It primarily targets the Earth Observation constellation market in Low Earth Orbit with futur e applications in other markets (e. telecommunications) and beyond. Job Description
As an Optical Communication System Engineer part of ODYSSEUS Space team in Luxembourg, you will be supporting the design, development, integration and test of CYCLOPS (a complete end-to-end solution for direct-to-earth laser communication for satellites in Low Earth Orbit), in interaction with the rest of the team. Experience in systems engineering of space based systems, as well as optical communication is required Complementary experi ence in product development, lab work, prototyping, Assembly, Integration Testing are strong advantages for the job.
Responsibilities

Be responsible of the system architecture, system budgets and design analysis elaboration and validation for CYCLOPS ground and space terminals.

System performance modelling, simulation, and model validation.

Channel modelling, simulation and analysis, including atmospheric turbulence impairment analysis

Build and maintain requirements databases and compliance matrices.

Perform technology trade-offs and technical analyses - Keep track of the internal technical development of the project.

Define and ensure the design and verification of the interfaces between the different components.

Support system level and sub-system level testing, including lab tests, field tests, and operational/on-orbit tests.

Technical marketing support including customer briefings and writing proposals.

Preparation of the documentation for reviews with European Space Agency and customers.
Skills & Requirements

Master’s degree/PhD in any relevant field, or equivalent
-
Minimum 5 years of related space-based system. engineering experience relevant to the development of free-space optical communication systems.

Strong background in the following topics: free space optical system development, free space optical channel modelling, optical acquisition, pointing, and tracking systems.

Good understanding of electronic, optical and mechanical systems.
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, English proficiency.

Experience in both working independently and as part of a team.

The willingness to participate in a start up adventure.

The willingness to learn new skills.

Highly organized and capable of planning and guiding complex technical work.

Willingness to relocate to Luxembourg.
Nice to have

Experience in product development.
